Choosing the right yacht.............

If you are going to live on board for a long time, normal shore luxuries become important e.g. Lots of floor space and privacy, a shower with lots of hot water, comfortable seating, cockpit table, enough electrical power and a fridge for the beer. We saw various craft and finally bought the boat that seemed right for this voyage.

Peter Goldstraw showed us his centre cockpit Moody 346 Thoraxe and it seemed ideal. We were keen to buy and after a survey, concluded the deal in March 1997.

Thor axe for sale on a grey day

Peter was trading up and as his new boat was not ready, he kindly allowed us to stay on his pontoon at Moody's on the Hamble. This certainly helped load the boat up (or should it be down). She was in very good condition after adding more safety gear and a  completing a familiarisation cruise, we were ready for the off.
